Mobility of Guatemalan traders in the southern border of Mexico

Abstract

This article shows some socio-demographic specificities and especially the mobility of the Guatemalan merchants in the southern border of Mexico. The information presented is based on the results of the Survey on Migration in the Southern Border (Emif Sur) for 2015, of the south-north flow, in particular the men and women whose economic activity is trade in the southern border of Mexico, which provides us with specialized information that allows us to have quantitative references in order to be able to generate a description of the Guatemalan labor flow dedicated to informal commerce in the border of reference, who carry out a daily outbound mobility and return; which represents the central approach of the dissertation.
