Abstract

In recent years, mexican migration to the United States has experienced changes in socio-demographic trends and volume. Several economic and financial factors, such as immigration policy, have led to an increase in the return of the mexican population. In this anthropological work we are interested in analyzing the experience of return in a group of Chamula women from different communities and places close to the municipal capital during 2007-2013. These women had recently returned from the United States and offered an overview of the effects of migration on their generic condition as well as the transformations and/or perpetuation of the relaions of generic subordination and inequality.
