Abstract

In recent years, migration has witnessed tremendous changes; among them is the place of origin of migrants, which can be rural or urban. For the specific case of the migratory circuit between Puebla, Mexico, and New York, United States, this article shows that this is a key element to form migratory networks, which at the same time will allow or reduce migration. Therefore, first it analyses the meaning of the 'rural' and 'urban', then how this origin impacts migration, and finally how this affects the migrant in the United States; especially his profile, and the formation, destruction, and creation of new migratory networks.
