Abstract

The repressive response of the Nicaraguan government to the wave of protests carried out by young people in 2018 brought with it different consequences, one of these was the exile of more than one hundred thousand young people who decided to leave the country to safeguard their lives and continue with their personal and activist project. The research explores exile and transnational activism undertaken by Nicaraguan youth through the analysis of data from primary and secondary sources collected between 2018 and 2022. Among the results, patterns are identified in exile experiences, their causes, their difficulties, expectations of return and the different expressions of transnational activism derived from them.
