Immigration in the Articulation of the Resurgence of Contemporary Nationalisms

This article examines the relationship between contemporary migratory flows and the resurgence of exclusionary nationalisms in the West, particularly in the United States and the European Union. It argues that immigration, especially forced and low-income migration, has been instrumentalized as the primary catalyst of far-right populist discourses. Through a documentary analysis, the study explores how economic crises, the decline of the neoliberal project, and widespread social discontent foster the spread of xenophobic ideologies that frame migration as a threat to national security, cultural identity, and economic stability. The article concludes that the rise of these narratives not only shapes the political landscape but also contributes to the normalization of human rights violations against forced migrant populations.
