Buen Vivir: possible solution to economic and environmental migration?
Keywords:

This paper aims to study the relationship between Buen Vivir -either as an alternative to development or as the Ecuadorian model of alternative development of the correist epoch- and a possible solution to economic and environmental migration. Capitalism, in its current phase of neoliberal globalization, compels a large part of the workforce to migrate to central countries. The use of relevant bibliography related to Buen Vivir as an alternative to development makes possible to characterize it, while the analysis of the Ecuadorian Constitution of 2008, the original, allows us to know this proposal of alternative development. Thus, looking at the characteristics of both, it is concluded that the proposal of alternative to development can be a solution to economic and environmental migration, while the alternative development one (Constitution during Correa’s mandate) would serve to improve the conditions of migrants and greater respect for their rights, a necessary but insufficient condition.
