The persistence of precariousness in street life after deportation in Tijuana. An analysis during the Covid-19 global contingency

This paper presents an analysis of the situation of those people who live on the streets of Tijuana and whose lives have been marked by migration experiences to the United States or forced return from that country. The analysis is part of a research-action project which, on the one hand, alleviated the food needs of those who live daily in a context of restrictive borders and migration policies and whom on the face of the arrival of the pandemic, had had difficulties to access quality food. On the other hand, we have the possibility of applying a questionnaire to assess the diversity of characteristics and conditions in which these people lived during the pandemic. In this paper, we focus on the sociodemographic characteristics, the migratory experience and the living conditions of this population, in which we recognize that the precarious situation of this population not only persists, but also worsened during the pandemic.
