Entrapment and the readjustment of migrant support spaces on the Northern Mexican Border in the face of COVID-19
Keywords:
COVID-19, migratory entrapment, mobility, support spaces, northern borderAbstract
The context of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the mobility situation of migrants, placing them in a situation of risk and vulnerability, because of the implications associated with the high probability of contagion due to their displaced status, affecting those who are in the process of seeking international protection, despite movement restrictions issued by some States and the impossibility of complying with health control measures. In this sense, the objective of the article is to analyze how the global situation of health contingency has been presented as a factor that reinforces the condition of entrapment of migrants and has led to a readjustment of the care processes of shelters and spaces that assist people in mobility in the cities of the northern border of Mexico. The work is based on two main sources: literature review and participant observation.
