Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss the concept of transit migration and its use to analyze Senegalese migration to Argentina (and Brazil). We expose the limits of this category, which, despite stimulating migratory studies, continues to think of migration as an event with a clear and defined objective, where transit is a stopover to reach a destination planned or desired in advance. We propose thinking about Senegalese migration to Argentina in terms of fragmented migration, considering the constant re-evaluation of opportunities and unplanned trajectories.
