Context of northern Central America: migration due to gender violence

Abstract

The northern region of Central America has been the focus of global attention due to the 2018 migrant exodus that entered Mexican territory. The following lines write about the historical environment of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras; its immersion in globalization and its marked asymmetries in the economy that have impeded the equitable distribution of income among populations; its internal problems that have derived in positioning itself in the most insecure region of the continent; and the impact of all these elements on the different types of migrations, particularly, that caused by gender violence.
