Abstract

This article presents the different diseases of Puebla migrant women and men living in New York and the ways in which, through their networks and knowledge, they try to cope in case of illness. Ailments are presented, as well as remedies and strategies to heal, putting into practice elements of a transnational type through communication; such as traditional medicine. It also shows the role that migrant women play in caring for their health and those around them, as well as the difficulties individuals and families go through when the disease is incurable. When that happens, many of them decide to return to their communities of origin, and that is when the Mexican State faces the problem of reinserting that person, which is why the actions of the Mexican State are also presented, specifically on the case of Puebla regarding the health of migrants.
