Abstract

Spain is the country where most of the researchers of foreign origin attached to the National System of Researchers of Mexico (SNI) come from. Despite their importance, there is little research on the job placement in Mexico of these highly qualified human resources. The objective of this article is to analyze the context of institutional reception in Mexico for researchers who obtained a doctorate in History in Spain. To this end, a qualitative investigation was carried out to reveal aspects of their migration project and their integration in Mexico. Among the findings found, the following stand out: the benevolence of the Mexican legislative context to employ foreign researchers; the opportunity to compete under the same criteria as nationals to obtain an academic position, and the possibility of Spanish historians to mobilize their social resources from Spain to Mexico.
